Kedarnath is one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Hindu which is dedicated to Lord Shiva (Lord of destroyer). Kedarnath town is popularly known for its Kedarnath Dham. It is one of 12th jyotirlings and the highest temple of Lord Shiva.  The destination is situated in the Chamoli district in the state of Uttarakhand. Kedarnath Dham is one of Chardham which is situated at an elevation of 3584 meters above the sea level. The Kedarnath temple is lies on the bank of Mandakini River which is added the charm in the place. Thousands of the devotees take parts in the yatra from all around the country and other different parts of worlds. The temple is decorated by the snow capped peaks from all around and the Neelkanth peak is increase the beauty of Temple. The amazing views of snow capped peaks, Pleasant Weather, fresh and pure environment, crowd of Devotees, Beautiful Neelkanth Peak and Mandakini River etc attract thousands of the tourists.

The temple is opens on the Last week of April or first week of May and closes on after two days of Diwali on the day of Bhai Duj. The best time to visit is May to June and again September to till October. Ukhimath is the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath ji. During the winters when the roads are blocked then the idol is transferred to Ukhimath for the next six months and worshiped. Gaurikund is one of the major attractions of the place which is the starting point of 21 km beautiful trekking to reach Kedarnath Temple.

 According to the Legend it is believed that Pandawas was established Kedarnath Temple and Adi Shankracharya was founded this temple in 8th century. It is believed that when Pandwas killed all his own brothers than they feel guilt. Then Lord Krishna advised Pandawas to worship of Lord Shiva. Then they started worship of Lord Shiva for wash all their sins. But Lord Shiva refused their request and tried to run away from there. Lord Shiva converted himself into a Bull and Tried to run away. But Bhima was able to catch Lord Shiva so he holds the hump of Bull. Where the hump of Bull is appeared that place is called Kedarnath.

Gandhi Sarovar: It is beautiful small lake which is contained Crystal clear water. It is also known as the Chorabari.

Gaurikund Temple: It is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. It is believed that this is the place where Goddess Parvati win the heart of Lord Shiva.

Gaurikund: It is the starting point of 21 km amazing trekking and one of the major attractions of the place.

Vasuki Tal: It is a high glacier lake which is situated at an elevation of 14, 300 mts above the sea level.

Shankracharya Samadhi: He was a great hindu philosopher and his Samadhi was established near the Kedarnath Temple.

Triyuginarayan Temple: It is the temple where Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva got marriage. The temple is situated in the rudrprayag district.

 The destination is well connected with the major destinations of uttarakhand. Jolly Grand Airport is the nearest Airport and Rishikesh is the nearest Railway station which is well connected with motorable roads to reach Kedarnath. May to June is the best season for visit Kedarnath shrine. Don’t forget to carry heavy woolen clothes during visit. GMVN guest houses and tent colony are available here for comfortable stay which is conduct by Govt. Simple and Vegetarian foods are available here and Non-Vegetarian food are band here due to its religious importance.
